Archives, obituaries & local history

Answer

  • Residents of Minnesota may request up to 25 copies free of charge. For research over 25 pages, there will be a 10 cent per page copying fee.
  • For non-Minnesota residents, there is a flat fee of $10 plus a 10 cent per page copying fee. Payment is submitted by mail.
  • GRRL reserves the right to decline research that is deemed too burdensome.
  • For obituary requests, please include as much information as possible--names, dates of death, place of death, and place of last known residence, if possible. Code as follow-up needed by GRRL staff. Patron will be contacted by e-mail or phone for any further follow-up, generally within a few days.
  • The library does not have local history collections like photos, interviews, diaries, or letters. The best source for materials of this type would be local historical societies, county historical societies, or the Minnesota Historical Society.
