Are library resources available for public use?

The library catalog and electronic resources are available to anyone regardless of UMD affiliation if they are physically inside the library. However, due to license restrictions, if you are not accessing resources from within the library, many online databases and journals are limited to currently registered students and currently employed staff and faculty.

There are restriction-free items on our databases page marked with a globe icon.  Globe Icon "Accessible by all users"

Library guests are welcome to use physical items in the library or to check out circulating materials. See the list of services for library guests. Stop at the Circulation desk to register for a guest library card if you live within 100 miles of UMD.
