How do I archive my dissertation, Plan A Master Thesis or Plan B Masters Thesis into the University Digital Conservancy?
Answer
Dissertations and Plan A Masters Theses
Master’s Plan A theses are automatically added to the Digital Conservancy as part of the submission process, which is administered by The Graduate School. For information or questions regarding submission policies and procedures, contact Graduate Student Services and Progress office (GSSP) for the most up-to-date information on this process, gssp@umn.edu
Plan B, Plan C, and Masters Capstone projects
Students may choose to deposit their Plan B masters thesis to the Digital Conservancy to make it broadly accessible to an international community of scholars via the web. Before doing so, there are issues to consider before depositing your work in the Digital Conservancy.
To submit your plan B thesis:
- Complete the online deposit agreement.
- Check the box labeled "I will email the files to udc@umn.edu."
- To answer "What collection should your work be associated with?" please indicate your department and the Plan B collection. For example: "Water Resources Center: WRS MS Plan B Papers." The UDC will work with your program/department if a new collection is needed.
- Email the completed paper as a PDF to udc@umn.edu.
- In your email, include the following information
- Author name(s)
- Title of your deposit
- Date created (YYYY-MM-DD)
- Abstract of no more than 500 words (optional)
- Any subject keywords you want associated with your deposit
- The collection where your item should be uploaded. If you're not sure, provide a quick description of your item, your campus, and any associated program, event, department, research group, etc. (e.g., UROP-Duluth Campus, Plan B thesis, Extension report, etc.)
- Faculty advisor name, if applicable
- Funding information, including sponsor name and grant number, if applicable
- In your email, include the following information
Undergraduate honors theses are also welcome. Please see the University Honors Program thesis submission instructions if you are a Twin Cities student looking to add your honors program thesis.
